Quick Guide
  • At maximum charge, Burn Breaker consumes all remaining EP and gains 30% extra damage for each extra 10 EP consumed. Fire Kick rewards a successful dodge with a 20% damage buff for 20 seconds.
  • DPJ reports Thunderstorm Scorchhowl in Beast Fang Ridge during a thunderstorm and shows the region's forecast and weather-notification menu. Exact current spawn pins and weather controls are unverified.

Bring EP to Burn Breaker

Scorchhowl's charged hit gets better when you bring more EP into it. Burn Breaker consumes the remaining EP at maximum charge, while Fire Kick can set up a damage buff if it successfully dodges an attack. Set up your supports, keep EP available and wait for an opening you can charge through.

The official description gives Burn Breaker a 30 EP cost and says maximum charge consumes the remaining EP, adding 30% extra damage for each extra 10 EP consumed. More available EP can improve that one hit, but the payoff comes with a cost: you've spent the resource that could have funded other skills.

That makes preparation matter. Don't empty the bar on filler skills immediately before the charged attack. If your team can help restore EP, use that setup before switching to Scorchhowl and committing to the damage window.

Fire Kick is a timing tool

Scorchhowl interactions to learn
ToolDocumented effectWhat to watch
Fire KickBrief invincibility during the leap; a successful dodge adds a stronger hit and +20% damage for 20 secondsTime it into an incoming attack instead of treating every cast as a guaranteed buff.
Burn BreakerCharged blast that consumes remaining EP at maximum chargePrepare EP and a safe opening.
Fire BoltFireball with two Fire Debuff stacks for 5 seconds; holding the button aims itAim deliberately and account for its short debuff window.
Scorching Flames+25% damage against elementally countered targetsThe target matchup matters; this is not unconditional extra damage.
HustleFaster movement while consuming staminaUseful movement has a stamina cost.

The successful dodge condition is the part to practice. Watch an enemy attack you recognize, use Fire Kick's leap to avoid it, then take advantage of the damage window. A missed timing doesn't make the following charged hit useless, but it does mean you shouldn't count that buff in the result.

What the creator’s early Fire build is trying to do

In the September 22 build video, i'm the main character centers the team on Fire damage support, a breaker and an EP-restoring support. The sequence sets up longer buffs first, breaks the target, restores EP, then moves to Scorchhowl for the dodge-and-charge finish.

Set up the support effects first

The creator starts the longer-lasting buffs before the shorter ones so switching characters doesn't waste the whole damage window.

Create an opening with the breaker

A break gives the charged attacker room to act. Don't copy a boss showcase's damage result without matching its target, team and setup.

Restore EP before the charged hit

The build uses an EP support before bringing Scorchhowl in. That follows Burn Breaker's documented scaling with extra EP.

Take the dodge bonus when an attack gives you the chance

Use Fire Kick for its dodge buff when there is a readable incoming attack, then charge Burn Breaker in a safe opening. If your break has already stopped the enemy from attacking, take that opening instead of waiting for a dodge opportunity. Casting Fire Kick alone does not guarantee its successful-dodge bonus.

The video also uses a held item described as increasing Damage Amp with available EP. Use the clip's visible loadout as a reference, then read the current item effect before spending materials. What matters for this setup is keeping enough EP available for the charged hit.

The showcased damage numbers belong to those particular fights. They aren't a promise for an underleveled copy, a different element matchup or a team missing the same setup. Start by making the sequence consistent, then compare your own attempts under the same conditions.

Hunting the Thunderstorm form

DPJ's September 20 guide places the Thunderstorm hunt in Beast Fang Ridge. The creator uses the region's forecast instead of guessing when the weather will change. Both the Basic and Prismana official entries also list Beast Fang Ridge as a habitat, though that alone doesn't establish the Thunderstorm spawn condition.

Select the region on the map

The creator zooms out and selects Beast Fang Ridge itself, not just a teleport point, to open the region panel.

Check the weather forecast

The guide opens the weather icon and checks the forecast and the creatures linked to that weather.

Set a thunderstorm notification

The creator uses the notification setting at the bottom of that tab and chooses thunderstorms for Beast Fang Ridge.

September weather behavior may have changed

The creator says a Branch weather-control option was visible but unavailable at the time. That doesn't establish its current state. Check the forecast and controls in your own client rather than spending upgrade resources on an assumed instant weather switch.

Color alone won’t settle the form

The Icho discussion asks whether an unusual-looking Scorchhowl is a unique form or a Sparkling variation. Replies are speculative. Use the creature's form label and details to identify it; a changed flame color in a clip isn't enough to establish an exclusive form or a catch method.

The illustration here is the official Prismana artwork. Keep that separate from the creator-reported Thunderstorm hunt. The route, the cosmetic appearance and the charged-attack build answer different questions, even when all three involve Scorchhowl.
