Quick Guide
  • Check the element of the attack, then both elements of the target. A creature’s second type does not mean all its attacks change element.
  • The table below summarizes creator-reported attack advantages. Use the in-game elemental chart to confirm a difficult matchup; the table covers attack advantages rather than every resistance interaction.

Attack matchups: the useful reference

Aniimo's elements won't always behave the way you expect from another creature collector. The chart is directional: an element that resists an attack doesn't necessarily hit that attacker super effectively in return. Before a hard fight, check the actual skill and target instead of choosing a team from the creature's appearance.

You'll also see Earth called Rock and Light called Holy in game data and official creature entries. StatWise uses Earth and Light in the explanation below; those labels refer to the same elements, so don't count them as extra types.

These are attack advantages from StatWise's counter-team explanation, not a complete defensive chart. A neutral or resisted result against a dual-type target can override the obvious single-type advantage. If the result seems wrong, open the target's element information in-game before assuming your build is broken.

How to read the damage result

Multipliers described in the counter-team guide
ResultReported multiplierMeaning
Super effective1.6×The attack has an advantage against that element.
Neutral1×The matchup does not change the damage.
Resisted0.625×The target resists the attack element.

StatWise describes dual-type matchups as multiplying the results for both defensive elements. Under that rule, two advantages give 1.6 × 1.6 = 2.56×, while an advantage and a resistance give 1.6 × 0.625 = 1×. Those calculations explain why a nominal counter sometimes produces an ordinary hit. They describe that guide's matchup model, rather than a damage formula covering stats, skill power and every buff.

For example, the guide uses water against a Fire/Earth target: water is strong against both halves. It also warns that grass against an Earth/Grass target cancels its advantage because the target's grass half resists the attack. Don't carry the first half of a matchup into the fight and forget the second.

Dual typing is a trade-off, not a bonus tier

A second type can add useful resistances as well as new weaknesses. The Fulmintis discussion makes that especially clear. Players initially argue that adding light must make the Prismana form worse, then point out the resistances it gains for the fights lightning creatures commonly enter. The useful question is which attacks you'll face, not how many weaknesses you can count in isolation.

Separate defense from your chosen moves, too. A different form doesn't guarantee that your basic attacks, core skill or equipped moves all deal the new element's damage. Read those skill labels. The same discussion disagrees about exactly how some elemental buffs apply, which is another reason to check the buff wording rather than assuming that matching creature types is enough.

You can plan differently for a known boss and a mixed run. Against a boss, choose the defensive profile that helps with its attacks. In Egg Heist, a broader mix of enemies can make flexible resistances and recovery more attractive. Neither approach proves that all Prismana forms are upgrades or that all dual types are liabilities.

Element levels are a separate system

Fire L2 and Fire L3 are not two new combat elements. The L1–L4 discussion connects elemental levels to work suitability and exploration interactions, including cooking and burning obstacles. Don't read a higher elemental level as a confirmed combat damage multiplier. Worker traits and the facility's requirements belong to a different decision from attack matchups.

Likewise, a video ranking 45 type combinations isn't claiming Aniimo has 45 basic elements or 45 playable classes. Cheep Tamer ranks combinations and explicitly warns that its spreadsheet cannot account for stats, modes and synergies. A theoretically attractive defensive profile can still sit on a creature whose kit isn't right for your team.

Before you replace a creature

Read the skill element

Check the attack you will actually use, rather than only the creature’s type icons.

Inspect the whole target

Account for both defensive elements. Look up the in-game chart when a familiar counter gives a surprising result.

Check the support wording

Confirm whether the buff cares about an attack element, the creature’s element, or another condition.

Change one thing at a time

Try a different move, form or team slot before rebuilding the whole lineup. Compare the same fight so you can see whether the change helped.

Be especially cautious with old charts. The easy-chart thread contains corrections and a discussion of earlier Earth/Lightning assumptions. Treat a community image as a handy reminder after checking its version, not as a substitute for the information shown by your current client.
